Silverlight Expertise

Erik at Laptop MVP

My name is Erik Mork, and I'm a Silverlight Consultant and Trainer. I'm also a Silverlight MVP and Silverlight Insider. In fact, I'm one of a handful of Silverlight MVPs worldwide. I've been working professionally with Silverlight since 2007 and Silverlight 1.

Professional Silverlight

I have provided Silverlight services to the following organizations:

In 2007, I began my Silverlight career by using Silverlight 1 to help with the original Heroes Happen Here site. Soon after, I was asked to contribute MSDN training materials on the 1.1alpha for internal Microsoft use. To see more about the work I've done, see the previous work page.

Silverlight Podcast

I'm perhaps best known for my work on the Silverlight Podcast - the Sparkling Client podcast. Our first show was in March 2008, and since then we've had more than 70 shows with lots of great interviews with the likes of Jesse Liberty, Adam Kinney, Ted Neward, Shawn Wildermuth, Shawn Burke, Justin Angel and many, many others.

HyperVideo Screencasts

Recently, I've created a community hyper-video site. The Silverlight player displays code in the html page as provides support for deep linking/navigation and a distributed/cloud based file system. Jesse Liberty of Microsoft has said of the implementation, "The integration is a work of art."

Open Source Contributions

My wife and I wrote one the first open source projects with Silverlight 2. The project was a direct implementation of the dual-n-back protocol reported in the Proceeding of the National Academy of Sciences. This task was shown to increase intelligence in college age volunteers. We were later contacted by individuals in the academic community interested in using the application to treat brain damaged individuals.

Silverlight Tour

I'm an active trainer on the Silverlight Tour where I teach Silverlight 2, Silverlight 3 and Advanced Silverlight.

Better Ideas
Industry Experience

I joined the tech community in 2000 and immediately began working on C++6, sockets and MFC applications. The highlight of this time, for me, was working on table driven disassemblers, IAT patching and other API interception mechanisms. With the release of the .NET Framework, I transitioned to the world of winforms and ASP.NET applications. I have 9 years of development experience.
